About Rajasthan Specialisation
The Rajasthan Specialisation offers an in-depth study of India’s most vibrant craft and enterprise ecosystem — exploring how traditional skills, heritage design, and modern innovation shape the region’s economic and cultural identity. Based primarily around Jaipur and its surrounding districts, the program focuses on small-scale industry, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business models emerging from Rajasthan’s artisanal and industrial clusters.
Participants engage directly with entrepreneurs, policymakers, and craftspeople to examine how the state blends its deep-rooted traditions with global market dynamics. Through field visits, guided workshops, and reflection sessions, learners connect the dots between craft-based livelihoods, design innovation, and inclusive growth.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 — Jaipur: Industry and Innovation in the Pink City
Orientation and introduction to Rajasthan’s economic landscape. Visits to the Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation and a local startup accelerator to explore MSME growth and design entrepreneurship. Evening seminar: Craft, Commerce, and the Modern State.
Day 2 — Bagru: Textile Printing and Craft Economies
Field immersion in Bagru village, renowned for its natural dye and block-printing traditions. Interact with artisan cooperatives to study sustainable production and community-led innovation. Afternoon discussion on export markets and design adaptation.
Day 3 — Sanganer: Paper and Printing Industries
Visit handmade paper workshops and textile units in Sanganer. Observe production processes, quality control, and supply-chain management. Dialogue with entrepreneurs on balancing tradition with efficiency and fair wages.
Day 4 — Ajmer: Spiritual Tourism and Service Economy
Travel to Ajmer to explore religious tourism as an economic driver. Visit the Ajmer Sharif Dargah and interact with local businesses that sustain cultural tourism and hospitality sectors. Evening reflection on “Faith, Enterprise, and Local Economies.”
Day 5 — Kishangarh: Marble and Art Industries
Visit Kishangarh’s marble industry — one of India’s largest. Engage with exporters, artisans, and local associations to study resource-based industries, sustainability challenges, and trade logistics. Optional visit to the Kishangarh Art School to see how traditional painting styles are adapted for contemporary use.
Day 6 — Jaipur: Reflection and Synthesis
Final day of review and reflection at The Hind School partner campus in Jaipur. Participants present short essays or case briefs analysing how Rajasthan’s industries balance tradition, technology, and sustainability. Closing ceremony and group photo.
